M-Z Thursday, November 10 from 2:00 pm – 7:45 pm

Abrams, along with Torah Academy and Politz Hebrew Academy participated in an international Math by Mail forum on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. The forum was held at the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia offices at 2100 Arch St. from 11 am-2 pm.

53 Abrams students joined their peers from other area Hebrew day schools who are also enrolled in the innovative Math by Mail program for an exciting day of problem solving and other mathematics-based activities that promote creative thinking and collaboration with one another.

The forum was enthusiastically led by Dr. Yossi Elran, Director of the Math by Mail Program, which was developed at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. Abrams students, along with some of our faculty and parents, were challenged by the “math tricks” and mind puzzlers presented by Dr. Elran during the half day forum.

The MBM program makes mathematics fun and interesting to students while providing them an opportunity to interact with other students in an international arena. Abrams is proud to be the first U.S. school to participate in this program, and AHA appreciates the hard work and great leadership of Dr. Irene Eisen and Joan Lamkey in making this opportunity possible.

Abrams is proud of our current 7th grade students who qualified to take the SAT’s with 11th graders. C.T.Y. (Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University) identifies and develops academic talents of these students. They are invited to take higher level testing that can help predict future test scores, and if they qualify many programs are available to them.

Help the School Raise Money just by buying your groceries!!

Giant runs a program that gives a percentage of sales to registered schools. All you have to do is register your Giant Bonus Card (pick Abrams as your school) with the website and we get free money!

Each time you shop at Giant using your BonusCard, you will earn CASH for our school! You can track the amount of points you earn for our school by checking your grocery receipt. Each month, the amount of CASH awarded will be updated on the Giant website. Our school will receive a check at the end of the program. The money can be used for any of our school’s educational needs!

This is a nice fundraiser and it costs us NOTHING!

**Reminder- Monthly lunch payments are due before the 1st of the month. Lunches are $5.00 per day individually; $4.50 per day if paid by the month.

All lunches include a drink.

All Parents who Car Pool:

Please note that the car pool line is for grades N and K only. All other students are to be dropped off in the front of the building.

Parents who use the back for drop off should follow the directions of the teachers in the parking lot. They are there to assist students and maintain a safe environment.

Under no circumstances are parents to park their cars in the middle of the line and leave them unattended to walk students into the building.
